Spanish – Clinical Faculty/Lab Director
The University of St. Thomas, St. Paul, MN is seeking applications for a full-time Spanish clinical faculty member and director of the Modern and Classical Languages multimedia language learning center. Ph.D. preferred (ABD or M.A. plus minimum three years of experience in language education technology considered). Language and culture pedagogy training that focuses on technology assisted language learning is a plus. The faculty member will initially teach three Spanish courses per academic year and assist with the redesign of the lab environment. Other duties include supervising department language tutors and administering electronic placement exams. The chosen candidate will interface directly with Information Resources and Technology and will provide faculty training in language specific Blackboard, web, and multimedia language learning software and hardware. S/he will work with fellow faculty members to integrate the use of technology into all levels of courses in modern and classical languages. Ability to teach other modern or classical languages a plus.
Salary commensurate with qualifications. Willingness to teach at all levels of the program, including the language requirement sequence, is expected. Other duties include student advising, department and university service and involvement in study-abroad programs. Innovative approaches to teaching and demonstrated knowledge/use of technology in the classroom are highly desirable.
