Director, Industrial Relations and Career Management
Exempt Position Available The University of St. Thomas is accepting applications for a Director of Industrial Relations and Career Management in the Opus College of Business. This person will lead the Graduate Business Career Services department.
The Director of Industry Relations and Career Management is responsible for the strategic direction and daily management of all career development services for full- and part-time graduate students in the Opus College of Business (OCB), as well as alumni of those programs. The Director targets, establishes, and sustains relationships with potential employers, leads the development of new career services and programs, supervises professional career coaching staff, and develops and maintains the department's budget. The Director establishes relevant departmental performance goals that, when achieved deliver on the implicit promise made to prospective students regarding career advancement following completion of a St. Thomas graduate business degree. Successful execution of the Graduate Business Career Services mission has a direct impact on recruitment of prospective students to graduate business programs.
The Director reports annual placement statistics to national professional and media organizations, and oversees design of promotional and educational materials for the department. The Director also serves as a "player/coach," meeting individually with students, and leveraging these interactions to identify the most effective career support strategies for the department. The Director develops requirements for career seminars, arranges mentor relationships, and builds relationships with contacts in industry, not-for-profits, and the public sector, to maintain a keen understanding of employer needs and employment market trends, and secure career contacts and job opportunities. The Director works with faculty and staff of other OCB programs and other resources within the University to coordinate efforts and provide programs that meet the needs of St. Thomas MBA and other OCB graduate students.

Qualifications: MBA or MA in relevant field preferably in education, career development, human resource development highly desirable. Bachelor's degree and 6-8 years experience in academic or corporate human resource development setting required. 3+ years experience in business preferred. Experience in corporate recruiting is a plus.
