Program Manger I

Salary: $37,106 - $43,654    The University of St. Thomas seeks a Program Manager I to focus on developing, leading, promoting and coordinating recruitment and marketing strategies for the undergraduate and graduate programs in Music.
Responsibilities of this position include developing and maintaining relationships with public schools, community colleges and other universities across the country in order to effectively recruit targeted programs and individuals reflecting broad and diverse populations; work with potential undergraduate and graduate students by promoting the Music Department at the University and discussing college life and goals, especially as they relate to the music programs at St. Thomas; develop and implement a plan for tracking recruits, implement effective follow-up to initial recruitment efforts, and lead faculty and staff with retention.
Additional responsibilities include creating and implementing promotional recruitment materials as well as media publicity; manage the marketing and recruitment budget; establish and maintain close working relationships with the Academic Advising and Admissions offices; coordinate faculty visits to schools and elsewhere; be present in schools, working with guidance counselors and music teachers as well as conduct student and parent consultations on the merits of St. Thomas in relationship to students' college life and goals; coordinate summer camps, workshops, festivals and special programs.

The successful candidate will possess a commitment to the ideals of this mission statement. Qualifications: Equivalent to a Bachelor's degree in a related field and four (4) years administrative experience; experience with Admissions and/or Music preferred.
We are looking for candidates with experience in project management and marketing; familiarity with music, arts and educational institutions and media venues; techniques for dealing with the public, in person and over the telephone; ability to network and interact with a variety of local, regional and national youth, educational and artistic initiatives; interest and ability to work with high school students, high school faculty, guidance counselors, transfer students, community college/junior college students, post-baccalaureate students, school and university faculty and administration.

The successful candidate will have strong written and oral communication skills; customer service focus; strong computer skills with a proficiency in MS Office; ability to organize and deal with a variety of simultaneous activities; excellent organizational and problem-solving skills; detail oriented and time-management skills; ability to deal successfully with a variety of individuals from various socioeconomic, ethnic and cultural backgrounds.
